Charles Bradley & Menahan Street Band made my favorite of all 59 tunes — their cover version of “Cumberland Blues.” Superlative soul singer, Charles Bradley, gives it a heart-wrenching twist, as brilliant back up singing accompanies his profound vocals. The Menahan Street Band play it psychedelic Soul style. I love how it’s equally modern and still sounds like a vintage slice of psychedelic Soul.

Sexy Steel Drums
Their first full length album, the phenomenal 55, came out in 2016 on Big Crown Records. Keeping in the tradition of Steel Drum music, 55 is a journey through re-interpolations and covers with an updated approach, pushing Steel Pan music to uncharted territory. Flawlessly bringing previously untouched genres into the steel pan cannon ranging from Underground Hip Hop tunes to staple Funk tracks and some of all that falls in between. It’s awesome — get it on vinyl here.
